| Almería is a province
of southern Spain. It is bordered by the provinces of Granada, Murcia,
and the Mediterranean Sea. Its capital is Almería. Almeria
belongs to the Autonomous Community of Andalucia, in Southern Spain.
Europe's only desert is found in
Almería, and is part of the National Park of Sierra Nevada (in the
Sierra Nevada mountain range), which it shares with Granada province.
The desert landscape and climate that characterizes part of the province
have made it an ideal setting for Western films, especially during the
1960s. Because of the demand for these locations, quite a number of Western
towns were built near the Desert of Tabernas. Films such as The Good, the
Bad and the Ugly and A Fistful of Dollars were shot here. Years later the
film of 800 Bullets was filmed in the same place. Large sections of Lawrence
of Arabia and Patton were shot there as well. The principal river
is Rio Andarax (Andarax River), which is located near Granada in the Alpujarras. |

This apartment has One double
bedroom and 1 twin bedroom. There is a pool and garden area. On the outskirts
of Garrucha, only 10 min walk to shops. Situated in the East of Almería,
which has all the flavours of the Mediterranean Coast. Garrucha was created
around a fishing port, where boats fished under the protection of the "Torre
de la Garrucha" ("Garrucha Tower") which was located by the sea, next to
the "Alfolí" (Salt store), where today we can find the Town Hall.
That typical Nasrid building was made with adobe walls; it was probably
built as a refuge for the Muslim fishermen when they were attacked by the
Christians who came from Lorca (Murcia). This tower was destroyed by the
earthquake of 1518. Being traditionally fishing village, Garrucha was called
"the small San Sebastián", the big port for the mines which once
had Vice-consuls from ten different countries after the expansion of the
shipment of silver, iron and lead in the middle of the 19th century.

smoke alarms. Please note that smoking within the property is not permitted.
The Cortijo is set in 6 acres of almond, olive and fig trees and has spectacular
panoramic mountain views. It boasts a covered porch, huge terraces to the
front and rear and a large gravel area for parking. The 10 X 7 pool is
illuminated and has a poolside shower. Next to the pool is a purpose built
BBQ with bar area, sink and power point for those al fresco evenings. The
property and terraces are completely enclosed by white balustrade and natural
stone walling and is accessed through double iron gates. Set amidst the
rolling Spanish countryside, you can enjoy peace and tranquillity and almost
