European travel for Americans

Currently, US citizens can travel to the Schengen Area for short-term stays without having to apply for a visa. While this is very convenient, this will change at the end of 2022, when Europe is introducing ETIAS, the European Travel Information and Authorization System. What this means is that people with a US passport will need to complete the ETIAS application online before making their trip. The new system is to protect the regionís external borders, but on the other hand, also makes border and document checks quicker and more efficient for travelers.
