| County Donegal is one of
the traditional counties of Ireland. It is located within the Province
of Ulster and is part of the Republic of Ireland. It was named after the
town of Donegal.
Throughout its history, it has sometimes
been referred to as County Tirconaill or County Tyrconnell. The former
was used as its official name during 1922–1927. This is in reference to
both the old original Tír Chonaill kingdom and the Tyrconnell earldom
that succeeded it.
Uniquely, County Donegal shares a
border with only one other county in the Republic of Ireland, County Leitrim.
The majority of its land border is shared with Northern Ireland (the counties
of Londonderry, Tyrone and Fermanagh). This apparent economic isolation
has led to Donegal people maintaining a distinct cultural identity and
has been used to market the county with the slogan Up here it's different. |

| Much of the county is
seen as being a bastion of Gaelic culture and the Irish language holding
the second-largest Gaeltacht area in the country with a population of 24,504.
Despite Lifford being the County Town, the largest town is Letterkenny. |

situated on a raised site, 1.5 miles from Carrigart village, and close
to Downings Bay and Dunfanaghy Town. The quality of the views must
be seen to be appreciated, with unrivalled panoramic views of Sheephaven
Bay, Downings, Muckish and Errigal Mountains and Rosapenna Golf course.
These views can be accessed from the conservatory, the living room, the
viewing gallery and from the first floor and ground floor bedrooms.
Gleann na Ceo holiday cottage provides an ideal setting to get away from
it all and relax in natural secluded surroundings, but within close proximity
to a host of holiday activities and facilities that the north Donegal area
provides. The accommodation can sleep 7 to 8 people, with the viewing
gallery also doubling up as extra sleeping accommodation with futons. The
house is purpose built to make most use of the surrounding views.

Meenan's Cottage is situated
in a beautiful part of South West Donegal, along the Glen road to Carrick,
in the shadow of Slieve League. This original thatched cottage is over
one hundred years old and spans four generations of the Meenan family.
Preserving the cottage's original character while providing for more of
today's creature comforts, it offers a unique holiday experience in one
of Irelands most dramatic scenic regions. The cottage has a living room
area with open turf fire, a dining table and chairs, two armchairs and
a small television and dvd player. The pantry/kitchenette is connected
to the living area and leads to the bathroom which includes a wc, sink
and bath with electric shower unit. The main bedroom has a double bed,

holiday home is located on the Atlantic drive at Dundoan Lower, Downings,
only one mile from the well known "Singing Pub" and two miles from Downings
village. Superb white sandy beaches are just a few minutes walk from the
property. You can enjoy golfing at Rossapenna Golf Links, an 18 hole course
with its newly built golf pavillion and St Patricks Golf Links Carrigart.
Other activites in the area include horse riding, water sports,deep sea
angling,diving, walking,pitch and putt. The Magherabeg Leisure Centre is
located in Downings and features a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi,
and gym. A new spa is available in the Rosapenna Hotel. There are
excellent pubs and restaurants in the area for music, dancing and dining
