Unusual and fun accommodation options in the United Kingdom

Log House Holidays - lob cabin with hot tubYou’ve stayed in hotels and bed & breakfasts, the family has tried camping and normal self-catering options, and now you are ready for something completely different. Whatever floats your boat, the following unusual accommodation options will make for a really fun holiday break, whether for a romantic couple or the whole family.

Lakeside Log Cabins with Hot Tubs

Rather reminescent of log cabins to be seen in Alaska and other wild and wonderful areas, these cosy and luxurious log cabins are to be found on a lake in the Cotswold Water Park of the lovely Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in south central England.  Log House Holidays offers a range of beautiful cabins available with everything you could desire, and some of them even have a romantic hot tub out on the deck.

Luxuriously comfortable any time of year, these cabins allow for a wonderful stressfree break in truly beautiful surroundings.

Vintage Vacations and those retro trailers:

Vintage Vacations offer the most amazing retro trailers, spiffed out to look like one of the original American trailers from the 1960s.  Getting right down to aluminium exteriors and psychedelic furnishings, these flashbacks are available for holiday stays on the Isle of Wight.  Whether you are a child of the 60s, or even if you totally missed the Woodstock era, there is a lot of fun to be had in these amazing trailers.

Isle of Wight - public domain

Interesting to note is that the owners of Vintage Vacations originally brought their 1965 ‘Tradewind’ Airstream over from the U.S.A. in early 2004.

They figured having a holiday home on the island would be a great idea.  Then they started to rent it out for the occasional family holiday or photo shoot.

Seeing how popular their trailer became, they then went the whole hog and bought more. Now they have a whole herd of retro caravans available to visitors.

Just for fun, a rather retro image of the Isle of Wight is included above and the video takes you on a tour of these wonderfully retro trailers:

Pot-a-Doodle Do Wigwam Village

Image courtesy Pot-a-Doodle Do Wigwam VillageStill on an American theme, you can go native on the lovely Northumberland coast at the Pot-a-Doodle Do Wigwam Village.  Totally original, the village consists of 20 wooden wigwams and 3 canvas yurts, perfect to accommodate the whole tribe. There's even a BBQ hut with a "Finnish" feel where guests can enjoy a barbeque evening during their stay.

Besides the very comfortable accommodation, there is lots to do in the area, including walks, all planned to begin and end at the wigwam village, where visitors can take in the lovely surrounding scenery and the beach.

On site entertainment includes an art centre, offering several activities including pot and pottery decoration, mosaic creation and glass painting.  Perfect to keep the kids (and parents for that matter) busy on the not-so-sunny days.  Besides this more indoor type of entertainment, there are many outdoor activities, including fishing and birding and a play area for the kids.

Whichever quirky way you choose to be accommodated on your holiday break, have a wonderful time and loads of fun.
