County Kilkenny is one of the traditional counties of Ireland. It is located within the province of Leinster. It was named after the town of Kilkenny (Irish: Cill Chainnigh) and has a population of 87,558.  Kilkenny is the 16th largest of Irelandís 32 counties in area and 21st largest in terms of population. It is the third largest of Leinsterís 12 counties in size and seventh largest in terms of population.

The River Nore flows through the county and the River Suir forms the border with County Waterford. Brandon Hill is the highest point with an Elevation of 515 m (1,690 ft).  The current county formed part of the Kingdom of Osraige and ecclesiastical Diocese of Ossory.

The Pink House (Ref: 29100) Self catering farm house in Inistioge, Ireland
This architectís rural retreat has been recently renovated with careful attention to the tradition and character of the cottage. This property is late seventeenth century with a cobblestone entrance. A sunny porch fitted with a comfortable couch, bookshelves, and radio/cd player provides a snug haven overlooking the gardens
and with a view of Brandon Hill. The house is situated in private, secluded, landscaped grounds. The house is furnished in a blend of period and contemporary styles and features items from the owners private art collection as well as examples of regional craftwork. This 200 year old country retreat is centrally located and lies almost equidistant between the medieval capital Kilkenny with its magnificent castle, 14 miles away, and Irelandís oldest city Waterford with its world famous crystal factory and golden beaches, 18 miles.  The property is surrounded by mature trees and gardens thus making an ideal spot for a peaceful break as well as an excellent touring base for exploring the sunny south east of Ireland.  Sleeps 4.
